Now that Belgrade’s new growth policy and parks and recreation plan has been approved, they will be working to revitalize downtown and update zoning codes and expand zoning areas that surround the city. Belgrade and Gallatin County share jurisdiction over areas directly outside of Belgrade city limits so they will be collaborating on the new zoning regulations. Belgrade’s new growth policy outlines projected land use, population growth and draws out long-term projects like affordable housing and road updates to reduce traffic congestion. Also included in the policy is a future land use map showing Belgrade’s focus of developing land between existing subdivisions and commercial developments instead of new construction outside of the downtown area. Lined out in the policy is Belgrade’s first parks and recreation plan detailing projects like adding new bike paths, improving connections of parks and trails and building an aquatics center.
